(AP) Blackberry is launching an iPhone X in the U.S. for $199 starting March 3, but that will include an iPhone 8 Plus for $299, a new $100 discount off the iPhone X’s $349 price tag.
The new price point is the lowest ever for a new smartphone in the United States, according to a Blackberry spokesman.
BlackBerry is the world’s second-biggest smartphone maker, and it has struggled in recent years to sell iPhones, which have largely replaced its older smartphones.
The company has also faced legal scrutiny in China for patent violations in its phones.
The iPhone X is the latest iteration of the company’s popular phone line, with a redesigned iPhone XS and XS Max.
The iPhone X and XR models are also available in the Canadian and Mexican markets.
The new iPhones are expected to arrive March 12.
